Opening days & hours: daily from 7.00am to 9.30pm Hot Breads is an unit of B & M Hot Breads Pvt Ltd. It is a chain of bakery & confectionery in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. Located on Ambour Salai just across the French quarters, it was the 1st of its kind in Pondicherry in 1997. As it supplied fresh and some authentic French products it became a favourite corner for many, specially the French. Today items have increased on demand and popularity.
The fast moving products are baguette, farmers breads (white/brown), foccacia (olive oil bread), royal selection, wheat loafs, stuffed buns such as with vegetables & chicken specially with sausages & chicken tikka filled, palak paneer rolls, mushroom puffs, quiche, croissants, caussons, pastries specially eggless pastries, cheese cakes, mousse cakes, eclairs, pies, tarts etc..
On order pumpernikle/ ragi &wheat/ mustard curry leave breads, mille fille, lunette, sables, brioche etc. are available. During seasons yet more varieties are added such as galette de rois, turkey quiche, marzipan, choco (white/dark) easter egg etc...Various combos are served as well for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Open daily from 8.30am to 3pm and 4pm to 10pm. Monday Closed. New Banana cafe is a unique spacious covered roof top restaurant located in the peaceful Muslim quarter near Gingee Salai in Pondicherry. It has a limited European menu so the taste is very much like home cooked food. Always available here are spaghetti, gratin, quiche, ratatouille, pesto pasta, gallette, various fresh and simple salads, fresh seasonal fruit juices and flower syrups from Auroville. Refreshments and desserts are served all along the day.
As free Wifi is available one can work while eating. Or else one can just relax and enjoy some soft music and fresh breeze. One must try here Raghi galette, a difficult dish to find in Pondicherry.

Open daily from 9.30am to 10.30pm "Happiness is Chocolate shaped". Spread happiness and spread chocolate through Choco Là, the first exclusive chocolate store in Pondicherry. Choco Là was started in 2009 by Srinath Balachandran, a chocolate entrepreneur and lover. He went to France and worked in master chocolate maker Mr. Jean Luc Klugesherz's chocolate kitchen. The chocolates here are 100% made in Pondicherry although he imports the raw material from Belgium. Other than classic recipes like Black Forest cake, Mousse and other products, Choco Là also has their signature dishes like the Cold Hot Chocolates and Chocolate pakodas which are a must.
Srinath calls this an Artisan Chocolate Boutique. And it truly is a standalone store, where every product has its uniqueness. Choco Là is different and is not looking to make it industrial. Working days and hours: Wednesday to Monday. from 8.30 am to 7 pm. Tuesday Holiday 'Café des Arts' is a spacious cafeteria with a small garden in a French colonial heritage building. This building was constructed in 1880 and is located in the French quarters of Pondicherry.
Its menu consisting of veg. and non-veg. is simple with recipes of France such as gazpacho, bruschettas or popular snack sandwiches (sandwiches baguette, croque-monsieur), fondant au chocolat, etc.
The home-made ice-tea, masala chai, the mint and other seasonal fresh fruit juice and coffee are very refreshing.
